Carroll set to play

Having initially remained on Tyneside following the events of Sunday, we understand that Andy Carroll has now linked up with the rest of the Newcastle squad and is available to play at Doncaster Rovers tonight.

Doncaster Rovers (a)

The Magpies make their league debut at the Keepmoat Stadium tonight (Tuesday) at 7.45pm in their first competitive away game against Rovers since 1947.

United were allocated 3,200 places and these have all now been sold. The ground capacity is just over 15,000 (record crowd was 15,001 v Leeds in April 2008).

Record crowd this season was the 12,923 who watched Rovers against Spurs in the Carling Cup. This is expected to be exceeded.

NUFC: Peter Lovenkrands (calf) and Fitz Hall (hamstring) won't feature, but Mike Williamson is expected to return after a three match absence. He's back in training, wearing a light protective cast on his damaged hand.

United will also be without Steven Taylor and Shola Ameobi, Alan Smith is yet to resume training but Joey Barton is back in the squad after a six month absence.

Were Barton to feature he would doubtless receive a hostile reception from home fans who recalled his last appearance at Doncaster - for Man City in July 2004.

That came in a so-called friendly match at Belle Vue, when Barton's tackle led to a mass brawl and he was yellow-carded before being subbed to keep the peace.

Andy Carroll has been in the headlines recently for a variety of reasons but if he plays at Doncaster will be looking to score for a fifth successive away game.

TOTT.NET BANNER SLOGAN COMPETITION

A daft competition was run on the forum on friday night, with members asked to pen a little intro to go at the top of this page. A lot of thought was put into these efforts by all members of the forum who entered (yeah right, course there was).

All the entries were then all put to a member vote (as is the usual rule). Forum member Nemo got off to a flyer gaining an incredible amount of votes early on, to the point that his lead looked untouchable. It was therefore declared that he was the winner.

But no !!!

An evil web of lies and untruths was uncovered (shock horror)...The cunningly fiendish Nemo had only gone and cheated to try and claim TOTT.NET glory for himself.

Lords' little one liner was infact the true winner, so that is what you can see up there now *points*.

If for some strange reason you wish to read the other piss poor efforts then simply Click here.
